RUPTURE AT GOCA 1420
January 27- March 18, 2011
Opening Reception: Thursday, January 27, 5 - 8 pm
Rupture features new installation works incorporating sound, performance, printmaking, and drawing from Kyle Bravo, Jenny LeBlanc, and Claire Rau. Each piece will take on a discussion of the relationship between man and nature in terms of physical pressure on a surface, via the spew of elements from a volcano, floating smut of an oil slick, and expelling substances out of the body. The artists are interested in the exultation and horror of an abject terrain, situating each experiment on the sea level of the gallery floor. Rupture traces its activity through accumulation and stains, using a variety of additive processes to incite both humor and revulsion while reflecting upon uncontrollable forces. |
